Teen Patti Sequence List: Every Run Ranked
Quick answer: There are 12 possible sequences (runs) in Teen Patti. In the order used by most apps they are: A-K-Q, A-2-3, K-Q-J, Q-J-10, J-10-9, 10-9-8, 9-8-7, 8-7-6, 7-6-5, 6-5-4, 5-4-3 and 4-3-2. If all three cards share a suit, the run is a pure sequence and beats every normal sequence. Wrap-around runs such as K-A-2 are not valid.
The full list
| Position | Run | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | A-K-Q | Highest sequence everywhere |
| 2 | A-2-3 | Second in most apps; lowest under some house rules |
| 3 | K-Q-J | |
| 4 | Q-J-10 | |
| 5 | J-10-9 | |
| 6 | 10-9-8 | |
| 7 | 9-8-7 | |
| 8 | 8-7-6 | |
| 9 | 7-6-5 | |
| 10 | 6-5-4 | |
| 11 | 5-4-3 | |
| 12 | 4-3-2 | Lowest under the common convention |
How many ways can each run be made?
Each run can be made with 4 × 4 × 4 = 64 suit combinations. Four of those are the same suit, which makes them pure sequences. The other 60 are normal sequences. Across all 12 runs that gives 48 pure sequences and 720 sequences, which is why a pure sequence appears only about once in every 460 deals.
The A-2-3 question
Ace is both high and low in Teen Patti runs. The question is where A-2-3 sits. Most digital tables rank it just below A-K-Q. Some families and older rule sets treat it as the lowest run, just under 4-3-2, because the ace is acting as a “1”. Neither is wrong, but mixing the two at one table causes arguments. Agree before the first hand, using our house rules checklist.
Runs that do not count
- K-A-2 and Q-K-A-2 style wrap-arounds are not sequences.
- Gapped cards such as 5-6-8 are a high-card hand, not a sequence.
- Two cards in a row plus a stranger (for example 9-10-K) is a high-card hand.
Comparing two sequences
Compare the run’s position in the list. Suits do not matter for normal sequences. If both players hold the same run in different suits, the hands are equal; see our tie rules. A pure sequence always beats a normal sequence regardless of position, so 4-3-2 of hearts beats A-K-Q of mixed suits. For pure sequence details see our pure sequence guide.
